lots of things are on the agenda for prayer requests today. sorry i haven't updated recently. life has been boring during chinese new year cause it was too cold to do anything except stay at home and watch tv! that's what the whole city did, it seems!

--the pastor in missouri who just lost his wife and 2 of his 3 kids in a car accident
--some friends of mine who just had their baby 3 months early--that the baby remain safe and is bought to full health and functioning!
--my health. i got pretty sick today. in the past 2 hours I have (for a lack of politer term...) thrown up 4 times. Please pray that I get better, cause I sure could use feeling better....

Ahh, the sweet smell (feeling?) of productivity
Today was quite productive. Might I add that it was my day off?
I still have many hours left of the day, too. Today, I....
...went to the doctor. I've been meaning to do that for a long time...I have this bump on my leg that I have started getting nervous about, as it hasn't gone away in...well...at least 4 months. I found out that I have this insane ability of putting off going to the doctor until right before something gets better. This doctor looked at it, gave me an anti-fungal cream, and sent me on my way, rescheduling again for Thursday to check on it. (which I really do appreciate instead of just saying "eh..it'll get better" like the last place...which it didn't). As I was about to apply the anti-fungal cream, I touched it, and the pressure caused it to pop. I'll save you the details, but 4 tissues later, it doesn't hurt nearly as much as it did before! I mean, it still hurts, but it feels better. I'm gonna wait until it heals a little before putting the cream on it, cause I don't know if it's an external-only kind of a thing.
...watched someone look at my water heater, aka "The Flame Thrower". yeah. doesn't that just sound interesting? awkward is more like it, since I can't speak his language, nor does he speak mine. (It added to the awkwardness when A) he called me before coming up, said something about "hi, i'm here [insert Cantonese here] one." and also B) he didn't ring the doorbell, but I randomly opened the door to find him just waiting outside my gate.....and then just now found out that my doorbell doesn't work.) But all in all I found out that The Flame Thrower may have thrown its last flame. It will be put to rust with all of the other old, flame-trodden metal at a later time. There are at least 3 things wrong with it, so the repairman suggested getting a new one. It's only 2 years old, but the warranty only lasts 1 year...I guess that's how long they're supposed to last? Not sure. But anyway...though it is young, it will be given a much deserved break from flamage and assisting with the washing of the dishes.
...ordered water. It hasn't come yet. I am just awaiting the delivery man, who should come within the next hour...or will randomly come tomorrow morning when I'm not expecting him. One of the two.
...will make enchiladas. As much as I try, I just cannot live without mexican food. It's a part of me that I will never let go.
Ok, so it's not as productive as I may have thought. But hey--it's my day off. That's gotta be worth something! Now...I just realized that it's the 15th in the states, so I have to write updates to send out to my supporters...which will in turn get posted.

random news
Sorry all, it's been a while since my last post.
Chinese New Year is around the corner. That means that it is time to clean! Today at the office, we unofficially cleaned. One of our amazing students and Cantonese teachers (same person) came to the office to help us out. He is a retired electrician, so he actually built some cords for us to use to reroute the electricity to more convenient places in the office. That will be super helpful! Serena, Matt, and I competed on how to get the cleanest desk, and I started freaking out because though I am a clean person, I am not always a tidy person...it was difficult making so much change in one day! My bulletin board got rearranged so that I could add all of my Christmas and birthday cards to it.
We will decorate the office probably tomorrow for Chinese New Year. It is half decorated already, but we have lanterns and other things that we need to put up!
I had a friend over tonight to jam. She brought her guitar and I brought...my voice. We sang and played guitar and had a good time doing so. We had eaten Japanese food for dinner, which was superb. The restaurant is about a block from my apartment. I don't know why I don't eat there more often. It's delicious. But anyway, we also made apple crisp. I love cooking...a lot!
I got caught up on America: I talked with a few friends from back home, and also was able to catch up on NCIS. That is the one thing that I do not want to get rid of from America (besides my friends!). I just love that show. And these past 2 weeks were great!
Let's see...what else...I have been having trouble waking up lately. I dont know why. Every day I wake up a little later, which means that I cannot fall asleep at night...so here I am at 2:30am, still trying to get tired. No fun.
I will be heading to the doctor soon. I have not decided yet if I will go to Hong Kong or to a new doctor in Macau. I have something on my leg that I thought was a bug bite, but it hasn't gone away...and it's been over 4 months. I am ready for it to go away, so I think that I will be getting it cut out soon. Please pray for that, that I am able to get it removed and/or healed quickly and painlessly. It is actually quite painful, as it has been for a few months...so I am ready for it to go away. Maybe I will go to Hong Kong so that I can see the skin specialist instead of going to an all-purpose clinic.
I think I have plans for Chinese New Year. My friend is thinking of inviting some of us over to her house in China for CNY Eve. I am a little nervous about getting there. It's in the city adjacent to Macau (just in China), but the day before CNY will be crazy. The boarder gate will be so crowded. And then the next day I dont know if busses will be running, or even taxis, for me to get back to the boarder gate to get back to Macau...but we'll figure out the details later!
I boiled eggs today, and half of them cracked. That's not really news, but it's definitely something that I just thought of and need to remember to put them away!!
I have recently found myself drinking hot water instead of tea or hot chocolate or apple cider...it's nice and warm. I don't know why we don't do that in the USA. But it's super common here. Maybe we should start the fad in the USA.
Sometimes I forget that my life here is exciting, because the excitement has worn off and is now just...well...life. It's hard to explain. But if I fail to mention something exciting, I apologize.
Anyway...off to bed to try and sleep a little!!

I am celebrating new year with my parents in town :) Also, today is my birthday, so I get to celebrate an addition to my age at the same time as celebrating the new year. oh fun.
We are enjoying Macau. Classes have started again full swing, so my parents get to endure my working schedule while they are here. I think they will take advantage of that time to go walk around Macau a bit :)

I can't think of too many updates...I had all of my coworkers over for Mexican food the other day, which was great! My parents and I visited Hong Kong, Jiangmen, and Zhuhai in the past few days. I am looking for a step-up convertor for my Wii, which my parents brought with to Macau so that I can enjoy Zumba and Wii Fit ;)
